Rural Broadband

Natural Enterprise has been working on an opportunity to bring high speed broadband to the Yarmouth Telephone Exchange area (including Ningwood, Wellow, Thorley, Norton and Yarmouth)increasing speeds 2-3 times faster than current provision.

Yarmouth Broadband will go live in April, but needs local subscribers to sign up. To encourage this early take up the connection fee (normally £36)is being waived for the first 130 people who return a signed contract to Natural Enterprise. If you would like a contract sent to you please call 01983 550400 or visit www.yarmouthbroadband.co.uk for more information.

Due to the community nature of this initiative, Shalfleet and Yarmouth Primary Schools and Little Explorers and Little Stars pre-schools will each receive £250 when 200 residents and businesses have signed up to high speed Yarmouth Broadband. At the same time the price for residential users will reduce from £22.99 to £19.99 per month.

Demand on the internet will only increase and we need to ensure that Yarmouth and the Isle of Wight are not left behind. The technology Yarmouth Broadband will be using is tried and tested and will put Yarmouth in a position to move with emerging technology.

The project, thanks to the partnership working of Natural Enterprise, Navigate IT and Telecom, Yarmouth Town Council, Yarmouth Business Association, Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners and Country Land & Business Association has been approved by the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE).

Natural Enterprise see this as a real opportunity not only for the Yarmouth area but for the rest of the Island too. This initial work forms part of our drive to bring high speed Broadband to all the rural areas on the Island.

Currently Yarmouth’s achievable maximum Broadband Speed is just 7.5mbs with few households having this speed. This project will enable us to increase the maximum speed to 24mbs, which won’t be available to everyone as much will depend on your proximity to the exchange, but we do expect to provide a service increasing speeds by 2 -3 times faster than your current provision.

Natural Enterprise would like to acknowledge the businesses who have given their valuable support to this initiative:
