Yarmouth residents have until 8 July to sign up for the high-speed broadband service, Yarmouth Broadband or they will risk losing the £100,000 of investment and Government funding set aside to install new equipment into the Yarmouth Telephone Exchange.

Natural Enterprise secured the grant funding designated for providing a high speed broadband service for rural areas and as part of its remit to support economic development on the island it is prepared to make this significant investment. This unique service will enable residents and businesses to receive speeds 2 – 3 times faster than their current provider. In addition, the download capacity is not restricted and switching from current providers couldn’t be simpler as only a signature is needed. With demand for the internet increasing this new equipment will ensure Yarmouth is not left behind and will be in a position to move with emerging technologies.
Brian Friend, Chairman of Natural Enterprise said “This is a great opportunity for Yarmouth Telephone Exchange users to secure a faster service now and for the future, but it won’t happen without the support from local residents and businesses”.
He continued “We are so close to meeting our initial target number of subscribers. Whilst we will be making the investment and running the service this is a community project; the more people who sign up the more the price will come down. When 300 people have signed up the price will reduce to just £14.99 per month which is very competitive. Local schools will also benefit, with Yarmouth and Shalfleet primary schools and the Little Stars and Little Explorers pre-schools each to receive £250 when 200 people have signed up.”
Graham Biss, Managing Director of Natural Enterprise added “We have received a good response but there seems to be a large number of people waiting for the service to go live until they sign-up. Unfortunately without a commitment we will not be able to move to the next stage to provide this improved broadband service to the Yarmouth Exchange”.
“We have set a deadline of 8th July in support of those people who have already signed-up and are waiting for the service to go live. This will be a lost opportunity if we are not able to make this investment for the long term benefit of people and businesses in the Yarmouth area.”
To support the recruitment of subscribers one to one meetings are being offered and a dedicated helpline has been set up. Don’t delay, subscribe to Yarmouth Broadband today and secure high-speed internet speeds now and for the future. For more information call Yarmouth Broadband Helpline on 01983 550400.
