Truly local produce from the Isle of Wight
The Isle of Wight is a region that has an abundance of quality food and drink produce and dining establishments that are renowned for their support and use of local produce. The Royal Isle of Wight Agricultural Society has therefore launched the new Wight Marque as a sign of quality and provenance for the Isle of Wight.
What is Wight Marque?
The Wight Marque is an audited food provenance scheme for the Isle of Wight. We hope that the benefits of an Isle of Wight Marque will extend beyond the food sector to include hospitality and tourism businesses, and it is intended that it will help raise the profile of the island as a quality food destination and thus further support all island food producers and processors.
The objectives of establishing the Wight Marque are to:
Who can use the Wight Marque?
Producers, processors, sellers and food & drink establishments are able to use the Wight Marque if their business is based within the scheme boundary and their products meet the scheme criteria. This accreditation is available to all local food & drink industry businesses who work hard to promote and support local food, drink and produce. This means that producers, farm shops, restaurants, pubs, butchers and wholesalers could all be eligible to use the Wight Marque. Criteria details can be found in the Application Pack
